Analysis Free From Social or Economic Barriers
Fellow and Future Analysts,
My name is Eric Rory Oso, and I am the Founder & CEO of Honey Bear Analysis Network. Honey Bear started with simple roots. I moved around a lot in my life in search of opportunity. Growing up in Sacramento, CA, I found the glass ceiling that many of us come to realize is an existential reality. I moved from Sacramento to Hillsboro, OR, and eventually San Antonio, TX, where I found my professional footing. Moving around, you see the one true calling of learning, failure. Like a little fawn taking its first steps, a stumble or two was not uncommon when I was finding my legs. Being a first-generation Mexican-American, I learned that disappointment and failure made you tough. It is the way champions were born. Only through struggle could you become the man you were destined to be. I also learned about Financial Analytics in college. Analytics was a godsend and my true passion. I really believe that it was what I was put on this planet to do. Through my analytical pursuits, I eventually became a very skilled investor, not only breaking through the glass ceiling but also building a comfortable life for my family. I realized that although pain makes you tough, knowledge is the true champion of adversity. I also realized that knowledge is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain, as there are now many more ceilings to break through to gain an educational advantage, and there is so much more to learn than ever. I knew a lot of my shortcomings in life were also due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of the opportunities available to me. I eventually started Honey Bear Asset Management, a financial literacy company. I believed that if people knew as much about finance and analytics as I did, they wouldn’t have to face a lot of the hardships I did growing up. When I moved back to California, I realized that analysis goes far beyond finance and covers many more subjects. That is why I started Honey Bear Analysis Network. HBAN is a grassroots movement for professionals of all backgrounds to share what they have learned in their professions, so it may help the next generation and others who may not have had the resources or opportunities to access educational analytics. I hope more people feel like me, and that we can grow HBAN into an analytical resource that benefits society.
Thank you,
Eric Rory Oso
